Beat the mosquito buzz
We have seen a influx of mosquitoes in the area that is abnormally late for the season. Wondering what you can do to help eliminate mosquitoes in your yard? At this time, the Texas Department of State Health Services recommends residents not allow water to stagnate. You can help by removing sources of stagnant water on your property. Areas to investigate include French drains, gutters, old tires, flowerpots, trash containers, swimming pools, bird baths and pet bowls. You may also actively treat areas of stagnant water on your property, not including creeks and other protected waterways with mosquito larvicidal treatments that can be purchased at feed stores and home improvement centers.
Residents who would like their area tested for mosquito born viruses contact the City of McKinney Health Compliance online or by phone at 972-547-7447.
